Sunday Brunchin’ at the Rustic

While its still ‘winter’ in most places, it’s been spring here in Texas for quite a while. When the weather is so nice almost every day, I can barely stand staying inside, especially on the weekends.

Since Sundays are for brunching ( I need all of these tees), we decided to try out a new spot: The Rustic. The day before, it seemed like every single Dallas blogger I follow on Instagram had been to brunch at The Rustic, so we had to try it.

O. M. G. Y’ALL. This place is amazing.  You don’t order from the menu, you basically just pick your drink and then order ‘brunch for x number of people’ and the food comes all at once, family style. It’s sort of like a tasting menu but with much more filling portions!

Brunch includes a cheese and bread board, mini doughnuts, grits, baked eggs, fried chicken, bacon, sausage, and mini French toast (MY FAVE).

For drinks we went with the Ruby Redhound, a mix of Deep Eddy grapefruit vodka and fresh grapefruit juice. I was worried it was going to be a little overboard with the flavor but it was perfect!

The girls don’t like spicy things, so I may have eaten half the fried chicken by myself…

The restaurant itself is huge, and opens up onto a large patio and then into a yard. It feels like you’re in the backyard of a friend having the best party! I loved it for brunch but I think The Rustic would also be great for an engagement party, shower, or big dinner party.

The Rustic also has live music during brunch, but we left just as it was starting. They do lots of other musical events during the week.

1st rule of living in Dallas: you must take a picture with the BIG sign when you see it somewhere.

After brunch we walked around Uptown, took the trolley (my first time! and such a cute, old-fashioned way to get around, not to mention its free), visited the Dallas Museum of Art (one of my favorite spots), and sampled a few of the food trucks in Klyde Warren Park. The sun had come out making it the perfect day downtown!
