Whether or not you are totally obsessed with HGTV’s Fixer Upper, you have probably heard of Magnolia Market. Chip and Jo took their small shop and turned an old silo into a massive store, garden, and entertainment space. You’ve seen the Silos on the show and probably all over Instagram. Since Waco isn’t too far from Dallas, my mom and I took a quick little day trip to check out the market!
There really isn’t a ton to do in Waco, but the Silos were our main destination so we didn’t make a big list. We had never actually been to Waco, only driven through it on the way to Austin. To be honest, before my Fixer Upper obsession, I had zero desire to visit. But, Chip and Jo drew me in….
We visited on a Tuesday afternoon and luckily skipped all the crowds. On Saturdays the line can snake around the building and the grounds can fill up with people. My mom and I agreed that we probably wouldn’t want to head all the way down to Waco just to wait in line for a store, but with no crowd it’s fun to walk around and see all the decor you see on the show! I 100% recommend stopping in, especially if you’re a fan of the show and want to see it for yourself.
You can’t tell from the pictures unless you really look at the roof- this place is massive. Half of the space was ’employees only’ and looked like it held mostly overstock, but I’m hoping it opens up for customers soon!
If you have ever thought, “I wish my house could look the way Joanna’s does,” then you’re in luck. Everything she uses to stage the homes and decorate her own is for sale. Most of the display tables were not, but they were our favorite part! Most of them were 15+ feet long and gorgeous.
The future home of Magnolia Seed, one of Chip and Jo’s many projects (not to mention the bakery, Flour, also coming soon!).
Last week there was a ‘barn raising’ at the Silos, and my mom heard it’s going to be used as a concert venue.
Yes, the same Common Grounds featured in one of the episodes!
If you get tired of the Silos, head just down the street to The Findery. My mom loved it more than Magnolia Market! It has furniture, decor, clothes, accessories, and everything in between. I definitely snapped a few pictures for decorating inspiration…
I don’t have a ton of pictures, but it’s a big, two-store building completely full of beautiful pieces. I wanted to live on the second floor!
I don’t have a ton of recommendations for other Waco adventures, but if you need a bite to eat and want to skip the food trucks at the Silos, my mom and I loved The Backyard, right next to the Findery. She read about it online, and it’s a perfect pit stop during your shopping adventures. The BLT and shrimp basket are highly recommended by us!
Honestly, Waco isn’t on my top list of destinations, but if you love Fixer Upper, you’ll have fun at the market, especially if you’re in the DFW or Austin areas and can make a quick day trip out of it!
If you’re wondering, my dress is a Two by Vince Camuto from last year, but I’ve linked up a few similar ones below, along with the rest of my outfit.
