Friday is the hardest day to get dressed for me. Why? Because my office subscribes to the ‘casual Friday’ policy. This sounds awesome, but for me, dressing casually is 10000x harder than dressing up! Wearing ‘work’ clothes to me is so easy- a dress, some heels, done. Maybe a skirt and blouse if I have an extra minute to think about it.
But casual Friday? I’m not really a ‘jeans and t-shirt’ kind of girl, but it is what everyone else in my office dons on Fridays (it doesn’t help that my office is mostly men). So what am I supposed to wear?
While I am still figuring it out myself, I thought I’d share a little inspiration, both from outfits I have worn as well as a few ideas, for my fellow girly-girls who are totally lost on Friday mornings.
What to wear on casual Friday
I have worn some variation of this outfit multiple times. A sleeveless blouse that I can wear any day of the week makes me feel dressed-up, but the denim and flats help bring it down.
White jeans (yes I’m going to keep wearing them, it’s still 90 degrees here) are a perfect denim-not-denim look for me. It feels a little fresher and more put together than my usual jeans (and by ‘usual’ I mean the handful of pairs that I own).
Outfits like this are perfect if you have plans after work. This easily transitions from office to dinner to drinks without requiring you to change or swap layers.
If your ‘casual Friday’ leans more towards business casual, then a dark denim and casual shirt under a blazer can make you look dressed up without overdoing it.
If you still feel lost or want a few more ideas, check out my ‘Work Wear’ board on Pinterest. It’s full of ideas I’m hoping to try out, mostly with things I already own!
