New York Bucket List

Thursday was my last first day. EVER. It hasn’t quite hit me that this is my last semester, no matter how many times I say it or write it down. Time has really flown by, but at the same time there are things I barely remember from freshman year because so much has happened!!

Since this is my last semester at Hofstra and my last guaranteed semester in New York, I’ve created a bucket list of things I want to see or do before I graduate (cue distant screaming). Some of these things I have done countless times and want to savor just a few more times, and some are things I’ve been putting off for the last couple of years.

New York Bucket List

  • Metropolitan Museum of Art (one of my absolute favorite NYC spots)
  • Frick Collection
  • The (new) Whitney Musuem of American Art
  • Neue Galerie
  • Westbury Gardens
  • Rise of the Jack o’ Lanterns
  • Go apple picking (my yearly fall tradition)
  • Go wine tasting on the North Fork Wine Trail out east
  • Visit Teddy Roosevelt’s house on Long Island
  • Highline/south street seaport
  • Shopping in the city (meatpacking district, SoHo)
  • Go hiking upstate (I’m not a huge hiker, but I at least want to see the leaves changing colors!)
  • Guggenheim (one of the most famous museums, and I’ve never been!)
  • The Top of the Rock: I will be (drum roll please) interning at NBC News this fall!! I’ve never been up to the top of Rockefeller Center, but since I’m going to be at 30 Rock twice a week for work, I might as well see a famous (if not touristy) view of the city
  • Empire State Building: another tourist trap that I’ve avoided. Even when we used to visit New York, we avoided major tourist spots. So, maybe it’s time to give it a chance!
