2017

Looking back at 2016, looking ahead to 2017

Ok, ok, I know I’m late to the New Year posts. But I’ve had a busy start to 2017 and this is my first post of the year! I still can’t decide (as I’m writing this) if I want a ‘year in review’ or a ‘looking ahead’ kind of post. So I’m wrapping it up all in one!

2016 was crazy. I watched Z get his master’s degree, moved into my own house (with 2 boys and 2 dogs!), started working, took an incredible couples trip to Miami with some of my favorite people, and literally a million other things that I could list here. Obviously 2016 wasn’t exactly the best year- I think I wanted to write this post mostly to remind myself of the good things amongst all the bad.

Which is why I am trying to go into 2017 with an open mind (about everything….). I have 2 AMAZING trips to Europe coming up- one with my family to London and a trip to Portugal with Z and two of our best friends. I’ve been to both locations but only for a short time and I’m excited to explore with new people! Study abroad trips are SO different from vacations (hmm this gives me an idea for a post), so I can’t wait to have time to wander and see new things that I missed the last time around.

I’m rounding out this post with some of my favorite pictures from 2o16. Obviously this is a small fraction of my favorites, but these are the ones that really sum up my year.

An absolute crap selfie stick photo of me and my oldest friends celebrating my 22nd birthday (Reece, I have no idea why your face is blacked out I’m sorry).

My favorite people from college (and a few of my favorites from Texas!) all together in New York for one wild weekend This picture sums up why I love these people.

Celebrating 4th of July at the lake with some of our best friends, surrounded by nothing but water, good food and drinks, and non-stop laughs for a whole weekend.

Of course, Miami made the list. Because it was perfect.

We hosted 12 people at our house for our first (of what will be an annual) Friendsgiving, and Z and I made a turkey for the first time ever (and it came out perfectly!).

Aaaaand Christmas, because I was obsessed with our decoration and the house still smells a little like our tree even though it’s been down for a week.

Alright, 2016, you weren’t all bad. But 2017, I have high expectations for you.
