HOW is Thanksgiving this week?? It feels like Halloween was yesterday (especially since we just took down our decorations) and summer was last week! I am not at all ready for Christmas- I need to buy gifts, get all my decorations out, start getting the house ready, etc. I love Thanksgiving so I’m trying to enjoy it!
Since I am a firm believer in no Christmas stuff until after Thanksgiving is over, let’s all take a moment to focus on this week’s holiday! Whether you are hosting or just showing up at dinner time, it’s always a good idea to bring something! Our Thanksgiving is sort of a potluck style, and everyone brings a dish.
If you don’t already cook regularly or have a few go-to side dishes prepared, this can seem so intimidating! So, I’ve rounded up a few easy Thanksgiving sides that you can whip up this Thursday!
- Mac n’ cheese. This is what I bring every year and it’s been a hit! I use 4 cheeses instead of 3 (not giving away my secrets!) but you can add in whatever you like.
- Brussels sprouts. I know this isn’t everyone’s favorite, but we made something similar at a cooking class a few weeks ago and now I’m hooked! As you can tell from my mac n’ cheese, adding bacon is always a good idea.
- Salad. Literally all you need to do is chop up a few ingredients and you’re good to go!
- Green beans. Not into the green bean casserole? I would much rather have these crunchy, garlicky green beans! I make these on a regular basis, but I roast them with olive oil and lemon juice!
- Mashed potatoes. Is it Thanksgiving if you don’t have potatoes? Bonus, these can be made ahead so you don’t have to be stressed on Thursday!
- Drinks. Maybe cooking really isn’t your thing, so why not bring a drink? Sangria is fool-proof and allows everyone to pour their own drink without needing to bartend. I just made this red version for Friendsgiving!
I hope everyone has a great Thanksgiving, whether you are cooking or just enjoying the feast!
